The Anglo-Catalan Society’s Occasional Publications
is an academic press for the publication of monographs devoted to the
language and culture of Catalonia and the Catalan speaking areas. As of
January 1, 2003, all the titles of the Anglo-Catalan
Society’s Occasional Publications are available
online. The service is entirely free and universally accessible in
an attempt to put studies on Catalan culture within reach of everybody.
With the retirement last year of Professor Alan Yates as Editor of the
Occasional Publication series, the Anglo-Catalan Society decided that
it was time to reconsider the future of the collection which Alan had
established and directed with such diligence and success over the past
twenty years. In anticipation of this development, the Committee explored
the full possibilities for the series and its future, particularly with
respect to the opportunities offered by Information Technology. As a result,
a package was presented to the Annual General Meeting at the Conference
in Oxford in December 2001, which proposed the publication of the series online
in collaboration with the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes of the Departament
de Cultura of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The meeting approved unanimously
the proposition given the number of advantages. Firstly, our Society's
basic aim with the creation of ACSOP to promote awareness of Catalan culture
in the anglophone world would be well served by this most accessible and
international of mediums. Moreover, complete editorial control over the
exercise would remain with the Society ensuring that the high standards
and academic quality which characterise the series would be maintained
at all times. Finally, expenditure on materials and distribution would
disappear as our vehicle for publication would be the eminently reputable
server of the University
of Kent. As it was also decided that Dr Dominic Keown should succeed
Professor Yates as Editor - with Dr Montserrat Roser i Puig as Deputy
Editor and that a new editorial board be constituted.

COPYRIGHT
ISSUES
The copyright to each
publication remains the property of the author.
The copyright of the edition, both real and virtual, is the property of
ACSOP. To effect the greater projection of Catalan culture internationally,
ACSOP would encourage the paper-based publication of the series and
make every effort to collaborate in that venture.
In the case of volumes
3 and 11 the question of copyright is awaiting
clarification although it is hoped that the numbers will soon be available.
